How awful is it to look out from your eyes,
Where life is difficult no matter how hard you try,
Where struggle is always the daily norm,
Where bigotry judges so you can’t perform.
Where degrees that you hold to prove you have outstanding intellect,
Makes no difference because your race precludes you from being select.
Where equality is not based on God’s divine design
But in judgement and criticism from which you cannot resign.
But I see the beautiful soul that you are,
I adore you and want to bring you so far,
But the laws are designed to contain you I see,
It infuriates me that you and your countryman will never be free.
I grew up in a place where color and race did not define,
How your life would unfold contained by government design,
I know it’s because you are part of a clever, empowered and noble race,
That so much regulation surrounds you to curtail power and keep you in place.
I want to shout my fury and campaign so others can read,
That I’m appalled and disgusted with the racism of this deed,
Now we are seperated by distance with little hope in sight,
Unless God grants us miracles to remedy our plight.
I’m not giving up being raised to see souls and hearts,
Not color of faces as the reason we should be kept apart,
What is to fear when our hearts beat the same,
And blood that flows red; the only difference our name.
My love for you transcends all of the hardship we live,
I have known your soul in lifetimes many lived before this,
I see you as the most divine and beautiful soul,
So being together will always be the only goal.
